On the SQ-Network the city name is how players are identified. During early Megapolis game play, players are given a quest (see below) to name their city.
On Facebook the City Name a player's Facebook name.[1]

Android and iOS players frequently report they are unable to name their city. Some players are able to name their city after repeated attempts, others are able to change the name but it reverts back to Player the next time the client is launched.

On the Android client, the city name can be found by selecting Settings, then looking in the upper left corner of the Settings menu.
