The Hydrology Institute is a Production Building that can be placed anywhere in the playable game area. It was added during an update on 07.16.2013.

Completion of the Hydrology Institute (Level 1) provides access to purchase the Water Facility Foundation and up to four Test Chambers (in the Buildings tab), with the latter then providing access to purchase Blade Turbine Foundations at the Water Facility.

A total of 70 assets are needed to complete construction of the Hydrology Institute. This is equivalent to 70 if one were to buy every asset instead of waiting to receive them from neighbors.

Test Chamber[]

Each Test Chamber provides access to purchase a Blade Turbine Foundation at the Water Facility.

BUG!
In the iOS and Android version of the game, the player only has to purchase one Test Chamber to be able to purchase all four Blade Turbine Foundations. In addition, the Test Chamber does not need to be upgraded to a Water Engineering Facility in order to upgrade the Blade Turbines (Level 1) to Diagonal Turbines (Level 2).

Water Engineering Laboratory[]

Completion of The Hydrology Research Institute (Level 2) enables the Test Chambers to be upgrade to Water Engineering Laboratories. (confirm?) Upgrade of each Test Chamber to a Water Engineering Laboratory allows each Blade Turbine (Level 1) of the Water Facility to be upgraded to a Diagonal Turbine (Level 2).
